Belt testing every 2 months

Queen Anne · Magnolia · Fremont · Ballard

Two free weeks, and a

T-shirt to keep

Bring the whole family in for two full weeks of regular classes at no cost. You train together, on the same mat, at the same time, and you decide afterward. Nothing to cancel if it isn't the right fit.

Book a starting time

Pick a class time below. We will confirm

by phone and answer any questions

before the first visit.

First class is semi-private

Your family learns the basics together in a small group so everyone walks into their first full class already

knowing what to do.

Two weeks of regular classes

Then you join the regular schedule for two full weeks, same classes as every other family.

Progress the whole family can see, together

Most schools test for a new belt every six to nine months. That is a long time for any family to wait for proof everyone is getting better. We test every two months.

Month 1

Stances, first techniques, and the class routine. Success sheet starts for every family member.

Month 2

First belt test. Ribbons and medals earned along the way, not just at the end.

Month 4

Second test. Sparring basics and self defense escapes are introduced.

Month 6

Third test. Most schools are only now testing for the first time.

Three belt tests in the time most schools give one. Families stay motivated together because the next goal is always weeks away, not most of a school year.

It shows up at home, together

Our family program is built around discipline you build together, not just technique. Every student, parent and child alike, works from a success sheet that tracks listening, focus, respect, and effort, in the studio and outside it. You and your kids work the same sheet, so what you hear on the mat matches what you hold each other to at home. Families learn to handle real situations together, and everyone gets a fun, genuinely hard workout while doing it.

What families say

"I train here, as does my son. They have excellent coaching in sport Taekwondo. The children's program is a well-researched program that incorporates the family in the personal development curriculum."

Instructors who know your whole family's name

Family Black Belt Academy has served Queen Anne, Magnolia, Fremont, and Ballard for more than two decades. Our instructors teach practical, efficient self defense across all ranges, strikes, throws, submissions, escapes, and counters, to parents and kids side by side. We measure success not only by rank, but by how your family's life improves outside the dojo.

Questions families ask first

What ages can train together?

Our family classes welcome kids age 4 and up training alongside a parent. Everyone learns the same material in the same class, at a pace that works for the whole group.

When are family classes held?

Weekday afternoons and evenings, with Saturday morning classes as well. We'll match you to a time that fits your schedule when we confirm your first visit.

Do we need uniforms to start?

No. Comfortable clothes are fine for the free trial, and the T-shirt is yours to keep.

Do we have to sign a contract to try?

No. The two free weeks are exactly that. If it isn't the right fit, there's nothing to cancel.

Do all of us have to train together every time?

No. Families are welcome to train together in the same class, and we also have separate youth and adult classes if that fits your schedule better.

Two free weeks. One free T-shirt. No contract.
